Every woman and girl deserves to be deeply heard, genuinely believed, and recognised in the fullness of who they are.
At FARA – the Faculty of Alternative Relational Approaches, we exist to transform how women and girls are understood, supported, and valued.
Through lived & living experiences, relational practice, peer education, research, open dialogue, advocacy and community, we work alongside women and girls, professionals, organisations and communities to create lasting change for those impacted by trauma.
Because healing begins in relationships.
Because justice begins with recognition.
Because every woman and girl is more than what has happened to her.
FARA is a charity dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls through relational, trauma-informed, inclusive and evidence-informed approaches.
We believe no woman or girl should ever be reduced to a diagnosis, a label, a statistic or the worst thing that has happened to her.
Every woman and girl deserves to be recognised for her strengths, relationships, voice, culture, hopes and possibilities.
We bring together lived experience, professional expertise, research and community wisdom to create spaces where people can learn, heal, connect and flourish together.
FARA is a relational charity that works alongside women and girls through education, community, research and partnerships to improve lives and transform systems.
FARA Gatherings creates relational spaces where women affected by trauma, alongside practitioners and allies, come together to be heard, build connection, and shape change.
The charity also works with allies, professionals, carers organisations and commissions to transform harmful systems, embedding relational thinking, collaboration and nonhierarchical approaches in
service design.
Creating supportive environments where women and girls can reconnect with themselves and rebuild confidence.
Supporting individuals and communities to understand trauma, abuse and the wider issues affecting women.
Helping women reclaim their voice, strengthen their relationships and shape their future.
It is never who they are.
We believe healing begins when people are:
Deeply heard.
Genuinely believed.
Met with dignity.
Surrounded by compassionate relationships.
Given space to make meaning of their experiences.
Supported to reconnect with themselves, their communities and their futures.
Through the FARA Faculty, we provide education and training rooted in relational approaches, trauma awareness and compassionate practice.
Creating spaces where people belong.
Open dialogue and trauma informed training for organisations and individuals
Standing alongside women and girls to create hope, justice and opportunity, we provide anonymous online trauma-informed peer support in safe, compassionate and empowering spaces
Working collaboratively to create social changes and offering remote volunteer opportunities in mental health and education
We believe...
Healing happens in relationships.
Dialogue creates possibility.
There are always multiple truths.
Being believed can begin healing.
Justice begins with recognition.
Communities create hope.
People can change.
Systems can change.
Women and girls deserve to flourish.
Based in the UK and connected globally, FARA works to support women and girls while sharing knowledge, building awareness and creating communities committed to change.
Find healing spaces and community.
Explore training and education.
Help create wider change.
While some of our online trauma informed events for women and girls are designed exclusively to provide safe, supportive spaces, we also host alternative gatherings that are open to anyone interested in trauma-informed practice, relationships and recovery

Whether you are...
A woman seeking connection.
A professional wanting to work differently.
A researcher.
A policymaker.
An educator.
A community organisation.
A student.
A volunteer.
A donor.
Or simply someone who believes women and girls deserve better...
There is a place for you within FARA.
Together we are creating a world where women and girls are no longer defined by trauma but empowered to flourish.

The website should feel like a global women’s healing and education organisation. It should be warm and relational but also powerful, informed and change focused. The central message is that women and girls are more than their trauma.
FARA does not define women by what happened to them — it supports them to reclaim identity, dignity, voice and future.
