FARA (Faculty of Alternative Relational Approaches) is a charity dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls through relational practice, education, research, advocacy, peer dialogue and community.
We believe that no woman or girl should ever be defined by the trauma she has experienced.
Trauma may become part of someone's story, but it should never become the whole story.
Every woman and girl deserves to be recognised for her strengths, relationships, culture, hopes, voice and potential.
Our guiding belief—More Than What Happened to Her—reflects our commitment to dignity, recognition and hope.
At FARA, we create opportunities for women and girls to be deeply heard, genuinely believed and compassionately supported through approaches that are relational, trauma-informed, inclusive and evidence-informed.
Our work brings together lived experience, professional knowledge and research to create environments where learning, healing and meaningful change can flourish.
We work alongside communities, professionals, educators, researchers and organisations because lasting change happens through relationships, collaboration and open dialogue.
Whether we are delivering education, supporting community initiatives, developing research or influencing policy, we remain committed to one simple belief:
Every woman and girl deserves the opportunity not simply to survive, but to flourish.
A world where no woman or girl is defined by trauma, where relationships, justice and community create the conditions for healing, belonging and flourishing.
To work alongside women and girls, communities, professionals and organisations to create relational spaces where dialogue, education, research and collaboration improve lives and transform systems.
The website should feel like a global women’s healing and education organisation. It should be warm and relational but also powerful, informed and change focused. The central message is that women and girls are more than their trauma.
FARA does not define women by what happened to them — it supports them to reclaim identity, dignity, voice and future.
